• Robot and other automated visits are meaningless when seeking more visitors (we want human eyes, not virtual ones), as any webmaster knows. However, I can’t tell if the stats are recording automated visits or not. I ask because it changes the meaning of the percentage using ad blockers.

    Hi,

Majority of the bots and crawlers will not load all the resources and execute Javascript on the page. We rely on that to filter out a lot of hits from automated scripts. Of course, there are ways to run automated bots or crawler that act like a real browser and run Javascript on page, but we’re not sure those are widespread. If we implemented a check via user agent, they could easily get around it by faking their user agent. We feel that as it is right now, hits from robots that run Javascript should be negligible. Please let us know if you think differently and why, we may be able to devote some resources to look into this.

    Thanks.
