I have APO enabled (correctly, according to the headers). I’m not using any caching plugins and have disabled spam filters. Yet many new visitor comments are not posting (I’ve replicated the issue). I’ve read that comments should work fine with APO, but it seems that they are not. Not sure what to do. Are there any possible rules I can use to prevent caching of comments?

Interesting. I enabled “auto-purge” in the plugin, and I was able to have a comment get through and update the article with the new comment. This is contrary to the documentation, which states “Note:?This feature is superseded by Automatic Platform Optimization for WordPress. If you are using APO, then this setting should be disabled.”.

In fact, it seems that auto-purge needs to be enabled for visitor comments to post properly and bypass/purge the cache, when using APO.

Great topic. What plugin are you using for Comments? We use wpDiscuz which has its own caching settings. Perhaps your plugin and/or theme is not fully compatible with Cloudflare APO (i.e., does not automatically flush cache when a new comment is detected).
