• Hello, I am having issues with the URL section of the Team pages. Some teams in my football league have a www URL and some have a FaceBook URL. When a URL is linked to a team, it is to show a Visit Site button on that team page.

Unfortunately, this appears to be working intermittently. Some teams display the Visit Site button correctly (with a www URL and with a FaceBook URL), however, when most teams are clicked, they are automatically redirected to the URL linked to their team page.

For example, if a user clicks the Patriots, it SHOULD redirect them to the Patriots team page with a Visit Site button that would then take the user to the teams linked site.

My issue is that the user clicks the Patriots and they never see the team site and instead are automatically taken to the linked site. How do I fix this?

    Thanks

    Hi!

Would you mind pasting the link to your website here, so we can check it out?

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Roch,

Certainly. I should have done this from the beginning. Here is a link to a team page with a Visit Site button as it is intended to work:

    https://www.gefafootball.com/team/dubois-mt-lions/

When users click “Visit Site” on the Mt. Lions page, it opens a new tab and directs users to the Mt. Lions Facebook page.

If you click Tigers under the Mountain East division, it automatically redirects users to the Tigers FaceBook page rather than to the Tigers team page with a Visit Site button.

Here is the Tigers direct, blind link to their team page:

    https://www.gefafootball.com/team/mount-carmel-tigers/

I have not been able to figure out a single pattern. Seems to work whenever it wants to. I have deleted the URL, saved the team, and then put the URL in again and still no dice. For some reason, the links seem to work for most teams this morning, however, still haven’t been able to resolve ALL teams.

The Visit Site button is NOT working successfully for the following teams:

    Wildcats
    Tigers
    Warriors
    Predators
    Cyclones (www)
    Outlaws

All teams above have FaceBook URLs. The rest of the teams show the Visit Site buttons linked successfully with a combination of FaceBook pages and WWW URLs.

Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this and thank you for looking into it.

    Hi!

The issue there is the team page redirecting to the “visit Site” link automatically?

Are you adding this visit site link under SportsPress? Because we don’t have redirection rules for these so you should see the team page for all teams.

    Kind Regards,
    -Roch

    Hello Roch,

Yes.. The links above show exactly what I mean. The only place I enter any URL is in the Visit site link under SportsPress.. nothing else.

The Visit Site only works for a handful of teams, but automatically redirects users to the URL for other teams. I am not sure why.

I was able to find the bug for this issue that no one in support was able to resolve or find a resolution for. After many hours of trying to figure out what the issue was, I figured it out.

IF you do not have ANY text written in the description section of the team AND you have a Site URL listed for that team, by default, SportsPress will default you to that Site URL and NOT the actual team page, on the front end, like it is supposed to do.

To resolve this issue, I had to enter (coming soon) or something to that affect on the team pages that had nothing written in the description. Once I entered some text and updated said team, I was able to click the team and be redirected to the actual team page on the front end and the Visit Site button was visible as intended to be.

Hopefully I can figure out the other bugs I am having since it has been 2 months with no resolution. Once I do, I plan to update my other tickets to let everyone know how to fix them since paid support was not able to do so for me or anyone else thus far.
