    Bonjour,
I have just updated WP to v 5.3.2.
    I’m using virtue 3.4.0
Since this update, the response time is very slow for both access to the dashborad and webpages.
Have you ever heard about this issue with WP 5.3.2 ?
Should I upgrade to WP 5.4 ? Is virtue 3.4.0 compatible with WP 5.4 ?

As a test, one of the website pages : https://savour.eu/expression-avec-couleur/

    Thanks in advance

    Regards

    Hey,
We definitely recommend updating. Virtue is ready for WP 5.4. Let us know if this continues after updating.

    Bonjour,
    thanks for your reply.
I have just noticed that there is now a new version of virtue (v 3.4.1). So I’m going first to update from 3.4.0 to 3.4.1
Also the response time of the dashboard is very very slow and I get frequently a time out error. I fear to get it while updating virtue or wordpress.

Have you tried contacting your host about that? It’s possible that your PHP is not up to date or your PHP memory needs to be increased.

I have just checked the PHP parameters with the plugin WP-Server info :
    ? v7.2.27-5+0~20200202.35+debian9~1.gbp2925f8
    ? GD: 2.2.5
    ? Memory Limit: 256,0 MiB
? Max Script Execute Time: 30s
? Max Post Size: 8,0 MiB
? Max Upload Size: 2,0 MiB

Also the answer of the host is that other WP sites on the same server don’t meet any slow response time.

    Regards

I suggest you check your php error log. If you are getting timeout and issues with a slow response there is likely some internal error and your error log would be able to pinpoint the issue.

    Bonjour,
it seems that there is not any php error log.

I have duplicated the website to a local version on my desktop under xampp. I have exactly the same environment with WP 5.3.2 + virtue 3.4.0 + PHP 7.2
Obviously there is not any issues with the response time for both dashboard and website …. and there are not PHP errors.

The only thing that I noticed with the live website is that there is frequently a gateway time out error when I try to acces the menu option.

    Regards

Gateway timeout would be server related, I think you should try contacting your host again, if they prove to be unhelpful I can only suggest that you get better hosting at this point.

At this point we can say that the issue is not due to the theme. It appeared after the upgrade to WP 5.3.2.
I will try to solve it with the host.
    Thanks for your support.

For your information I have just found this error code in the WP “health info” page :
Erreur : [] cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 bytes receive
I don’t know if it could be the reason for the slow response time.
Is CURL used by Virtue scripts or plugin ?
    Regards

    Hey,
Do you know the URL curl is trying to access, that might help you.

    Bonjour,
I don’t know the url that Curl is trying to access.
I got 2 critical issues throught the site health check option.

You will find below the messages in french and the translations :

    1st critical issue

The REST API encountered an error
Erreur : [] cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

    2nd critical issue

Erreur : [] cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

Your site could not complete a loopback request
Loopback requests are used to run scheduled events, and are also used by the built-in editors for themes and plugins to verify code stability.
The loopback request to your site failed, this means features relying on them are not currently working as expected.
Error: [] cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received”.

My undersatnding is that it could be due to plugins and theme.
But what I can confirm is that when all the plugins are deactivated, there is still slow response time and timeout.

For your information, the plugin Kadence Blocks is installed but I don’t use it. So it is not activated. Could it be a problem ?

    Regards

My undersatnding is that it could be due to plugins and theme.

It could be but not likely. If this is only happening on your Heath page then its most lilky core making the curl call.

So I would say the issue is much more likely to be on your server.

No that wouldn’t make any difference.

I was ready to close this topic but I have just noticed 2 things :
    – Access to the website https://savour.eu is still very slow through my computer under Windows 8 and Google Chrome, but much more quicker on my android smartphone and google chrome as well. Maybe it could guide you ….
    – You said that I should update WP from 5.3.2 to 5.4, knowing that Virtue is compatible ….. but I have just noticed that the plugin Kadence toolkit is said to be compatible up to version 5.3.2

Thanks in advance for your reply

If your specific computer is having an issue then it would be related to your computer. Might mean that your internet or anti-virus software is preventing certain things and causing timeouts.

The toolkit is compatible, there just hasn’t been an update since 5.4 came out (hasn’t been a need for an update).
