The orders for a restaurant are fulfilled through WordPress/Woocommerce/Paypal and then collected by the buyer. In WordPress in Woocommerce general settings I have shipping set to ‘Disable shipping and shipping calculations’…but do I also have to/is it best practice for each product to have the product data set to virtual? as the physical items wont actually need to be shipped to anyone.

  • Hi @any12. From a best practices perspective, I suppose it makes sense to mark the products as virtual. This is not strictly necessary if shipping and shipping calculations are disabled, though, as all products will basically be treated as if they are virtual. It won’t make any difference from the customer’s perspective, so it’s really up to you.

    Hi, thanks for the answer.
On an initial order from PayPal, the payment was put on temporary hold/pending and a message in the email said …’update the status of your virtual product sale’… ‘if your item doesn’t need to be shipped, update the order status and your payment will be available within 7 days after verification…’
I thought if the product item had been initially set as virtual the order might not have been placed on hold?

    Hi @any12.

I would reach out to PayPal about this. It sounds like this is unrelated to WooCommerce. You could try setting the product type to virtual to see if that would make a difference as well.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved. Feel free to start a new thread if you have any further questions!
