    Good Morning,

I am trying to create virtual downloads of products that I have stored off site on google drive.

I have created a direct download link for these files so I can paste the link into my browser and directly download from google drive. This is the link I am using for the URL on my website.

Now once I put this link into the download URL on the product, When I purchase this item it loses all naming and the download then becomes “uc” without any extension so the user can’t download the product.

I know it has something to do with google not containing the name and file type in the URL and only a file code etc
But I have no idea how to fix it?

[ redundant link removed ] If you want to test it there is a $0 Digital download option

    Hi there,

There are 3 File Download Methods through which WooCommerce can facilitate the download of a digital file, and which once you choose depends on how secure you want to keep the link that your users get after purchase.

The first two methods are more secure, but as with your situation – when the file is hosted on Google Drive – the filename returns as “uc”. If you use “Redirect only (insecure)” the upside is that the file will download with the name intact. The downside is that the link to that file will be plainly visible (to your customer), can be shared, and anyone with it could download the file.

Have a look at this forum post where a user seems to have found a workaround that offers the best of both scenarios:

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
