  • Hey Folks,

    I’m intermittently getting the following error: Vimeography error: the plugin did not retrieve data from the Vimeo API! Connection time-out.

    I called the host (inmotion) and they said everything looked good from their perspective and I’ve checked with Vimeo to see what going on and I don’t see anything out of the ordinary.

    The site is built on wordpress (3.5.2), plugin is the most recent – not sure of the php version. Videos should show on the homepage, half way down under “Featured videos” residential-photography.net/

    Also on all pages under “Videos” nav in the left menu.

    Can you help me figure out why I am getting this intermittent time out issue?

    Vimeo might just have been having some down time. Seems like it is loading fine for me.

    Still having problems with the same “Vimeo API time out” issue and IMhosting says my IP is not blocked.

    The problem is… it is intermittent. I have the Vimeography player on two pages. One works, the other does not (mostly).. but I say, it’s inconsistent. If others are experiencing this too, it would seem there is an issue that needs some research.

    jazzguy – Same thing still happening – intermittent issue so its hard to track. Its seems that every 3rd or 4th page load it will not connect.

    Please add any info gathered to this thread. I’ll do the same.

    I have not idea what the additional JS error info means.

    I just wrote Vimeo support again.. their delayed responses are starting to make me want to move my videos.

    My work is suffering from this.

    So we still have no resolution on this?…
    So whats another plug in I can use to pull vimeo groups?

    No… still no resolution. The problem is still intermittent, but still getting the “time out” error on this page even tho it’s working at the moment. https://www.richgermaine.com/portfolio

    By the way, Dave Kiss at Vimeography has been most helpful trying to help me track this down. Hope we can find an answer soon or an alternative.

    Just now I updated the Vimeography gallery on my WordPress site and in the Gallery Editor window, the error showed up after I clicked SAVE CHANGES

    Vimeography error: the plugin did not retrieve data from the Vimeo API! Connection time-out

    All I did was change the order of the videos in the Vimeo album, then refresshed the videos in the Vimeography plugin and clicked Save Changes.

    Then.. a few minutes later, I clicked SAVE CHANGES again… and the gallery shows up. Go figure.
