I think this might have been because I had Shortcodes I’m not using anywhere. I’ve now deleted.

    Hi Lindsay,

That’s exactly how you assumed. Our plugin requires at least one Shortcode of type “Order Details” to be available and to be linked to an active WordPress post/page.

If you create a new Shortcode of that type by using the apposite page in Vik Rent Items, you will find a button to add the shortcode to a new page, so that the URL routing functions will work properly, and this is useful also in terms of SEF.

We also recommend creating at least one or two other types of Shortcodes: “Search Form” and “Items List”. These will be useful also in case you will decide to publish the search form widget in the home page of your website, as the widgets of Vik Rent Items always require you to select the “page” from the apposite parameters, which will be the landing page URL in case of the search-form widget to start the booking process.

Lastly, it doesn’t matter if you publish the pages using Shortcodes of Vik Rent Items onto any menu of your website. What counts is that all Shortcodes in Vik Rent Items should be linked to an active WordPress page or post. You could do this manually by copying the shortcode string and by pasting it inside a page of your site, or you can have Vik Rent Items do that for you with the ease of a click.

    We hope this helps!

    The VikWP Team
