    Hi,

I am using the wonderful Akismet plugin on my WordPress website, to block both spam-comments and spam-email, sent from the Contact Form 7-powered contact form on the website.

The last week I experienced an ‘attack’ on the website, in the form of spam comments on posts and of email spam sent from the contact form. For the comments I get good information what Akismet has blocked for me (39,000 comments in five days), but for the blocked e-mail I have no idea.

Of course there are the web server activity logs, but is there a possibility for me to get this kind of information from the Akismet plugin itself?

    Thanks for your help!

When Akismet reports that it has blocked 39,000 comments in the last five days, that actually includes all spam, whether it was comments or contact form submissions.

If you install the Flamingo plugin for Contact Form 7, you’ll be able to see what Akismet blocks as spam in your WordPress dashboard (from this point on), just like you can see what comments have been blocked as spam by going to the Spam folder.

    Hi Christopher,

Well… I did not get the number 39,000 from Akismet; it was the number of spam-comments WordPress reported on the Admin area > Comments page.

In the meantime I looked into the Contact Form 7 code and it is clear to me now how this works. I might be able to use some CF7 hook to collect the information myself or, indeed, I could use the Flamingo plugin.

    Thank you for your help!

    Best regards,
    Henk
