• I have a client who is using the host site ace-host.net, on that host they have a program called Fantastico, which I was able to choose WordPress from a list and it (Fantastico) installed and set up WordPress for me.

I have no problem getting to the admin page for WordPress, but when I click the view blog link it always takes me to the index.html page for the website (home page) instead of the blog. I am not sure how to fix this or what page I need to be viewing.

Can you point me in the right direction?

    Thanks
    Pam

It is pointing to the root directory my.site.com/ which just brings up the Home/index.html page of the website. Where should it be pointing?

it should be pointing to the directory where you have wordpress installed… or in the off chance that you have it installed in the same directory as the rest of the site then it should be pointing to the index.php file…

what’s the link to the site?

edit: when you’re on the blog home page, look in the address bar of your browser… that’s where it should be pointing…

Here is the link for the blog from the wordpress dashboard. I warn you the page is ugly and has been reworked just not uploaded yet. https://healthconceptsnutrition.com

Found it. I had to change it to https://www.healthconceptsnutrition.com/index.php

    Thanks for you help.

One more thing. What file is the WordPress Address URL supposed to point to? Right now it is https://www.healthconceptsnutrition.com

    Thanks again.

You’ve got a possible problem here.

Having 2 index.xxx files in your root directory is a quick way to get ignored by the search engines.

one thing you might think about doing is taking the content from your index.html file and trying to work it into a static page inside wordpress and then setting that page as the frontpage and then deleting the index.html file.

if that’s not an option for you then I think you could change the WordPress Address to https://www.healthconceptsnutrition.com/index.php
and it would work as intended… just know that if you go that route that you could be affecting your search engine rankings.

Is it possible to rename the WordPress index.php to something else like blog.php?

technically yes… it’s daunting thoguh… it would require a ton of modifictaions to wp core files… which would also make upgrading to any future release a bear.

You might think about moving your wordpress install into it’s own seperate directory.
