Videos thumbnails aren't set featured

  • I’m using another plugin called CyberSyn which is a RSS syndicating plugin. I use to it auto grab youtube videos from a RSS. The problem is it doesn’t work well with video thumbnails plugin cause it doesn’t set the thumbnail as featured but it does get saved in the media library. I’d have to manually use the scan posts feature to get each post a featured image.

    Video thumbnails sometimes set the featured image and sometimes don’t! I still don’t know what the problem is…

    I have the same problem in wordpress 3.8. It’s generating thumbnail and saving to media library but they’re not auto featured. Can you please tell me any solution. I’m posting videos by using wordpress oembed (pasting only youtube URL).

    Are you using any other plugins that do something with featured images?

    I just tried it again and it’s working fine on new post. Previously i was trying on old posts and it was generating thumbnail but had problem with auto feature. So i guess it’s fine. I can manually add feature image on old posts. Thanks for this plugin. Really helpful.

    No I’m not using any other plugin that uses featured images. The CyberSyn plugin posts via cron job. It’s still not setting it auto featured. Would it help if I gave you the login details?

    @ruriko I haven’t had time to test that plugin, could you email me a login where I could check it out?

    @ifrit there’s always a possibility theme authors are doing something unusual with featured images, and since it’s a paid theme the only thing I can recommend is testing to see if you have the same problem with a different theme.

    Got the email, unfortunately I still haven’t been able to track down the source of the issue.

    I ended up installing the plugin on a test site and didn’t have any issues pulling a feed manually, using the cron pull mode, or the auto pull mode. I just manually pulled the feed on your site and everything seemed okay, but I had noticed that there were some previous posts it wasn’t working for. Let me know if it continues to miss thumbnails and if you can help pick up on any patterns of when it works and when it doesn’t.
