• We run DisneyInfoNet.com and ever since we upgraded to Version 3.1 I have had an issue with some people being able to view Youtube videos that we upload. It doesn’t seem to be isolated that we can tell to certain Browsers as we had at first thought because some people told us that they could switch from FireFox to Internet Explorer and view them fine. Now people that use Internet Explorer are telling us that they can’t see them

We are using the embed codes for these videos and on the HTML side of things it seems that since upgrading to 3.1 that it wants to change the code of the video from Youtube’s standard to something completely different. This may be part of the issue and we really need someone from WordPress to contact us at [email removed] to see what we can do about this. It is killing our business as we do a lot of video embeds and when people can’t see them they will go to other sites where they can see them.

    Thank you,

  • we really need someone from WordPress to contact us

This forum is staffed by volunteers. There is no WordPress support team who could contact you. Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

We will try what you suggested but we had all our plugin before the 3.1 upgrade and everything worked fine. We are using the default layout with our graphics on them.

How can we get into contact with the WP team if this does not solve our issue?

You cannot get in touch with the WP team as there is no “WP team”.

That sucks. There has to be someone to contact at WordPress, org for issues that maybe only they can resolve. We had this with WordPress.com. I have a feeling that the issue we are experiencing is deeper than just plug-ins or layouts. We think it goes to the core of the latest update. We might try e-mailing WordPress.com and see if they can help or refer us to someone in the company that can.

Like we said we are giving the plug in thing as shot but we are not expecting it to help matters much. Hopefully we may be surprised. We hope so as we don’t know what happened all of a sudden with this after upgrading to the first 3.1 update. That is the first time we had any issues of this nature with video.

Thank you for your assitance and once we run out of options on our end to try then we will have to contact somemone.

Sorry DisneyInfoNet but I can bet it’s probably not the WordPress core. 99.99999999% of the time it’s just the plugin. Which plugin are you using for video? You may have to try another one. Also, with video playback, some machines are just not capable of streaming flash, so you have to check and make sure that the end user meets the minimum req.
