Videos fail to appear on posting (started with Version 3.5)

  • Just after I updated to WP 3.5 I noticed that my videos fail to appear when they post. Vimeo, YouTube, MacroMedia shockwave, LiveLeak, etc. All of them. WordPress has turned into an equal opportunity deleter.

    Here’s where it gets weird: I do a lot of “pre-posting” entries to my blog. I set everything up, set the time for it to appear, publish it, do a preview to make sure everything looks OK and go on about my day’s business.

    Then, when the time comes, the post goes up but all the video’s code disappears. I go back in to edit it using Text (not the visual editor) to see what’s wrong and there is no code there. At all. Blank! I then re-enter the code, hit publish again, and it shows up.

    Is this problem related to the fact I pre-post? I can’t spend all day sitting around adding stuff at specific times so telling me I can’t pre-post makes me think it is a worthless feature. At least in 3.5

    I tried a new installation of wordpress without plugins but the videos are removed upon publication.

    OK everyone: I changed the theme to a newer one and it still dumps my videos. It’s Atahualpa V 3.7.1 last updated 12-02-2012

    Something is very wrong here as I should not have to run through a bunch of themes to find one that works given I do not like the Twenty Twelve theme.

    Help, please?!?!?!

    Switched back to TwentyTwelve and it STILL does not display the videos.

    Ideas?!?!?!

    Went back in on a post with a video embed that had missed its schedule and checked the code. It was still there. I did NOTHING to it as the time had passed and figured if I modified it in any way it would appear normally.

    Two minutes later the post appeared, stripped of the code so somewhere between sitting in the queue and actually getting passed through to be posted the embed codes are getting stripped out. And this is on the TwentyTwelve theme.

    If I were to try and re-load 3.5 (minus the content folder as stated above) do I need to be concerned with the fact that V3.5 has something like 14 files in the root directory but when I FTP in I find there are about 24 files in MY root directory? Further assume the only two folders I delete are the wp-includes and wp-admin folders from the current location and then upload the two new folders?

    The extra files I have on the server in the WP directory are below and all of them have “last modified” dates of before December except the .htaccess file (10/7/2012):

    This seems to be a known issue in 3.5

    Scheduled posts are stripping embeds and iframes at the point they get published.

    I don’t have any specific plans to update my theme at the moment.

    It’s almost 4 years since I last updated it. I’m surprised it was still working.

    Hopefully the big fix for the problem I found on trac will allow you to return the Journalized theme.

    Yep, worked fine for me until this. However, it is widespread as a friend of mine also tried loading a video and it crapped out.

    Hi Esmi,

    I uploaded Hotfix to my plug-ins directory. Should that fix it based on what I saw at the link Mike Little left?

    Apparently the plugin is not working (or the fix isn’t, either.)

    No one said anything about the Hotfix plugin correcting this issue yet. Delete it.

    To ESMI or Mike: just saw that the ticket mentioned by you, Mike, is closed and the problem fixed?

    What does that mean to people like me who still have the problem? Still have to wait for 3.5.1? And how long might that be?
