• Hi Videopack people.

A HUGE thanks for creating an amazing plugin. Unlike most other video plugins your plugin is easy to use (!) and easy to customize with a bit of CSS. ??????????

    MY PROBLEM:
In Firefox on Mac I’m having some problems though.
    Sometimes the videos don’t play.

    – I’ve noticed that the videos that don’t play all have the classes vjs-paused and video_kgvid_0-dimensions.
    – And the ones that DO PLAY have the video_kgvid_1-dimensions, vjs-has-started and vjs-playing.

Check screenshots and video recordings of this on https://imgur.com/a/dgApNFc .

(FYI the videos play smoothly Chrome & Safari on Mac and iPhone, and also on Firefox on mobile)

Once again thanks for a super useful plugin.
Hope you can help me with this bug! Let me know if you need more info.

I should also inform you that the playback don’t fail 100% of the times. Sometimes it works – but then sometimes if I reload the page, or navigate to another page and then back to the page with the video again then the bug often appears again.

A video that hasn’t started playing will not have those CSS classes. It doesn’t indicate anything other than that the videos haven’t started playing.

Unfortunately I don’t have a solution for you. In my experience autoplay browser behavior is unreliable. Even though muted videos are supposed to autoplay, sometimes they don’t and I don’t know why. I don’t think this is unique to videos embedded with Videopack or using Video.js as a player, but you could try switching to the “None” option for Video Player at the top of the Videopack settings page.

I’m going to look into this a little more because there are a few solutions that could improve reliability. I created an issue on GitHub to track my progress.

I switched the Video Player to “None” and it works (YES!) in all the browsers I’ve tested in: Chrome, Safari and Firefox on both iPhone 11 and on Mac. Thanks for the tip!
