Video support for featured image on Cover template

Glad you like it! Chaplin does not support displaying a video in the cover template header, unfortunately. It would be a nice feature to have, but difficult to support since themes aren’t allowed to add content fields to the post editor. Your best bet would be to add a video block at the very beginning of the block editor content.

Appreciate the quick response. I’ve added the video to the media element itself, so no need for fields in the post. The (in-line) cover block pulls the video through if added in this way, so was hoping the hero region would work the same way. (no need for custom fields)

No problem! Sorry, I’m not sure I understand. Do you mean that you’ve set a video as the featured image?

My confusion and I see the reason this won’t work.

On my featured image, in the media gallery, I have a field for referencing video.
But on further investigation this is coming for another plugin, so there’s no way your theme would know how to render that.

I think we can probably develop something ourselves to pull this through if present and render it.

@hixster Ah, I see. I’ve been considering adding support for specific plugins in order to include that functionality, but I think it would be difficult to make it understandable to users (and maintain compatibility if/when plugin behavior changes). No problem!
