Viability & Security of Plugin

Greetings. On looking at this plug-in, one thing that stands out is that it has not been updated in over a year. Is this a dead product? The other half, from a site security standpoint, the question becomes is it being monitored to ensure that it is not vulnerable to hacking, and WordPress has gone through changes since the last time this item was updated.
