Very slow when editing and saving post but fast on the front-end

  • Hi, I have a problem with the speed of the back-end of my website.
    When editing and saving posts, it takes around 1 minute for wordpress to complete the process but when previewing or viewing posts, it takes < 5 seconds.

    This one is a more extreme case where the saving of the post took 5 mins.

    I contacted my web host about this and here’s what he said.
    The issue looks to be what was causing your MySQL resource usage to be so high. The postmeta table of the database has corruption which I am working on repairing.

    Any ideas?

    Update: the wp_postmeta have around 10 million rows. Do you think this will cause the backend to be slow?
