very slow RSS feed

  • My feed has been very slow to load, while the rest of the site is fine.

    I’m not using any feed plugins, just the raw WP feed and I’ve had to start passing my feed through google reader and then into feedburner to get the thing to update and stop sites timing out trying to receive the feed.

    Here is an example of the original feed from WP:

    nicwindley.co.uk/feed

    This is the feedburner version (I pass the original WP feed through google reader to get the feed to stop timing out):

    feeds.feedburner.com/BusinessGrowthDevelopment

    Any ideas what is causing the feed to serve so slowly ?

    hmmm, since redirecting the feed the standard WP feed serves a lot faster, maybe the problem is with the number of client requests for the feed or something similar ?

    wait I’ve now removed the feed redirect as I’ve got a loop which means my feed will never update
