Very slow page loading time on WP

    So I have a very annoying problem: My main WP site is very slow at loading! It is absolutely terrible, in fact. There is something about it that cripples the loading time, but I do not know what it is. It takes around 8 seconds to do a full page load (first time visit before caching)! I have optimized and I have optimized until my face turned blue, but it does not help. I have a grade B (88%) rating on gtmetrix, which is very good. Yet my page load time is down the drain.

    So my old WP site has crappy code and optimization (images/CDN/minify etc), yet it loads in under half the time of my new site. Also a fresh install of WP loads in under 1 second. So I do understand that it is something with my install/the content. Swapping the style out does not work, so that isn’t the bottleneck.

    The old wp site has a page size of 1.1 MB, my new is 775 KB. Loading time old site 3.8 seconds, new site 8.9 seconds. How can that be, when the old site has a much larger page size?

    I am planning to launch the site soon.. Help? ??

  • What happens if you use the default Twenty Fourteen theme with all plugins deactivated?

    Yes, it appears to have been a buggy plugin. After extensive testing and disabling and enabling every plugin separately, I found the plugin. Loading time is now down to 1-3 seconds. You sure have to be careful with what plugins you install! Thank you.
