• I’ve been using this for about a year. It seemed good at first, but as the site has grown, it’s become painfully obvious that it is super buggy.

    1. We have close to 3,000 images and it is *amazingly* slow.
    2. Memory leak – while working on a page, each time you access the media library, the browser slows down a bit more, until eventually the page crashes
    3. Drag & drop is broken. Dropped items often – OFTEN – land in the wrong place. Sometimes they land in other folders. Sometimes other items mysteriously get nested under them. Sometimes, after dropping, you’ll find that some other item has been selected for editing, with the cursor inserted in its name.
    4. No alphabetization of folders.

    Hi there,

Its Bruce here, I am sorry to see you’ve had such experience with our plugin, please understand that we are constantly testing the tool on regular basis, both on different themes and compatibility with a wide range of plugins and I can assure you it’s working well at this time on many instances.

However, on small occasions and as a norm of the whole internet system, bugs could surface on some websites at any time, just as it is with yours right now.

But we are glad to take a look at this for you if you could create a thread for this issue here:

    Thank you.

    Kind regards,

Thanks for the link. I’ve already replaced it with another product. If you guys had a major update, why didn’t it appear in the WP admin as plugin updates normally do?

    Hey @cockrumville ,

We do have support in place to resolve the issue.
The latest version 4.0.3 has been received 100% positive feedback and hopefully you will be able to change your mind. We’re always here to welcome you back.

Regarding the update notice, you can see it in the WP admin dashboard like this https://prnt.sc/tqw5xm

Please let me know if there is anything I can ever help you with.

    Regards and stay safe,
    Kelly

    Hi Kelly (@ninjateam)

“Regarding the update notice, you can see it in the WP admin dashboard like this https://prnt.sc/tqw5xm”

I have never seen this. I always have to remove the older version of filebird then reinstall the new version – a bit of a nuisance. I would love it if I could just update it in the wordpress admin plugin area like all other plugins. How can I achieve this? I have the pro version.

    Thanks

    Hi @beckseden,

Thanks a lot for coming with this update and I’ sorry to hear about this issue.
So, please note that most of the tools hosted on codecanyon do not come with auto update for some reasons, that is why FileBird PRO does not auto update too.

So, if you want auto update for these codecanyon tools that falls in this category, you have to install the codecanyon market plugin:

    https://envato.com/market-plugin/

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Bruce (@ninjateam)

Thank you for such a fast reply!

So, how would I have had to purchase the plugin to be able to update it in WordPress admin? Code canyon was the only way I could find to buy it when I purchased it – it was not available through wordpress dashboard, and adding another plugin just to do an update for one plugin isn’t really an option as I’m trying to minimise the number of plugins I use. Too many already! ??

    Thanks

    Becky

    Hi @beckseden ,

Sorry about this but its the only way for now, and any other tools or plugins you purchased via codecanyon or any envato site, you only need that one plugin “Envato Market” to help you trigger auto-update for them.

I have also spoken to my team about this and it was agreed that we would consider working on this in near future.

    Thank you.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Bruce @ninjateampc

I really appreciate your prompt reply, and I think it would be a very good idea to implement the ability for users to update through the wrodpress dahboard.

I’m more confused now, though. Brings me back to my first query above “Regarding the update notice, you can see it in the WP admin dashboard like this https://prnt.sc/tqw5xm”

In the screenshot you provide, it clearly shows the option to update through wordpress. Yet then you say it’s not possible?

I have no other plugins through code canyon so installing the plugin is not an option to update one plugin that updates so infrequently.

=> This is the auto update for the free version. For the pro version, as Bruce told you, it needs the Envato Market plugin to auto update.

And yes, we are working on a more convenient way to auto update for the pro version, please stay tuned.

    Thanks so much.

    Kelly

Ah I get it now, thank you. Yes, I will look forward to seeing this improvement.
