• Gosh, my site is just so slow. I’ve turned off my customized theme and reverted to twenty ten.
    I Deactivated all the plugins.

But still it just hangs around going nowhere!

    Please help.

  • If you understand how to view your server request and response headers, perhaps you can spot the slow spots. Otherwise, you will actually have to share the address to your site so someone else might take a look at it.

I just rushed ahead and rewrote the .htaccess as they said on another forum, so now I have an internal server error.

Oh, it’s back again. Please have a look.

Things really didn’t look too bad for me. Out of 6 times clearing my cache and reloading your site, the total load times ranged from 3.14 seconds to 4.27 seconds. (Using Firefox) Your response codes were all 200’s . all items requested were present and accounted for.

I didn’t see anything really out of the ordinary… except for the lag in my own ISP’s service! – but I should keep quiet about that, or they’ll want to up my rates again!

Then it must be my ISP.

I am going to activate plugins and template. And then could you please have a look again?

I will come and tell you when I’m done, if you have time.

Thanks for your replies. I really appreciate you taking the time.

I have reverted to my theme and plugins restored. Can you please have a look. Thank you so much yet again.

That sure made a difference. Times now average 14.2 secs to 18.5 secs and
the download size jumped from approx 725KB to 1.2MB.

So I might be right in thinking it is the template?

I think a combination of loading the flash/swf and the social media tool bar on the bottom, and whatever other content is being pulled in by any media plugins or code positioned elsewhere, are all contributing to make it a larger download size – which translates to longer load times of course. You can try all of that with other themes, but the results might be similar. It might be worth asking around about caching plugins, if it persists with other themes. I see a lot of discussion about it, but I’m not very familiar with the plugins themeselves.
