Are you wanting a different type, like “pretty permalinks” instead of the page ID?

If you are wanting that structure, select the Custom Structure and put in the field /%postname%/

I would like to use /%postname%/ but my links break so i got the “url migrate” plugin, but in order for this to work i need to know my current url structure….. so what is the the defult url structure?

Only postname used to be a VERY bad idea. The Codex still states “Starting Permalinks with %postname% is strongly not recommended for performance reasons.” I use id/postname. When you edit permalinks to something that does work, you shouldn’t need a plugin to do that. Just try another one (a ‘pretty’ that you can check in the settings screen) and when that works, find a custom that does the job.

I have images that are linked to “?page_id=17” that is why i need to know the permalink structure of the default setting, permalink migrate will auto redirect these links for me.

Default is default, meaning, no setting. When you don’t do anything, the permalink will have the question mark, etc. Btw, I’d be surprised if you changed permalinks and an article can no longer be accessed using the default permalink.

Like I said, it is not impossible that you will not be able to make a permalink with just postname. The good news is that with my permalinks (id/postname), pages do not have a number in the permalink. For example, this is a page, this is a post. (You only have to hover over the links to see the difference.)

@gangleri – category/postname is the one that is the bad one.

/%postname%/ is quite fine for performance – check out most of the WordPress niche blogs, including my own as an example. It is also good for SEO.
