• As with all WP base themes, this one is pretty rudimentary as well. I would never send a site live with this as my theme and would need to spend a considerable amount of time doing customisations to get it to a presentable level. I’m wondering if the 2020 theme or beyond will actually be developed to a degree that it can be used as a viable theme without needing to pay for a premium theme.

Having said all that, I am still devoted to WordPress (self-hosted) over all other websites in a sealed box (Wix, Squarespace etc) options. It can be incredibly time consuming doing customisations, but when it’s all said and done, it’s good to have complete control over my own site and not held hostage by anyone else (Wix etc).

Looking forward, it would be great if WordPress had more high quality themes available and built in features that would negate the need for plugins (or at least minimise their need). Reason being, the more plugins you have, the more potential there is for incompatibilities (which can really be a time suck trying to fix). Just my two cents.

I’m curious as to what kind of customisations you’re referring to? What is it that you get from a premium theme that you’d like to see included here?

I guess mesotu marked it 5 stars by mistake.

I agree that the theme does look very “rudimentary”. Like a basic HTML page from the dawn of the Internet. At least we should be able to choose colors and fonts to our (and clients) liking.

I belive it is called “minimalist” if you like it ?? I think Twenty Nineteen is paradigmatic and so far removed from the basic HTML pages as can be. But of course, some places the marked likes pages looking like overblown sofas and I agree this one is for blogging and content making, and not for commercial portals and shops. My 5 stars is not a mistake ??
