  • was looking for Google map alternative and came across this one.

    my only wish would be to add a FAQ on how to create a self-hosted part of the map, i.e. create an image to be used with [leaflet-image src=”path/to/image/file.jpg”]

    Were you trying to use leaflet-image as a basemap, or did you want to put an image on top of a map?

    I wanted to save a bit of traffic by essentially doing a print-screen of the rendered map via the plugin and hosting it on my site. And then changing the short-code to use the cached image of the map.

    Ah, neat use case. Unfortunately the leaflet-image shortcode is rather difficult to use as it is and isn’t recommended except for those who want a headache. ??

    For example, images use x and y pixels instead of latitude and longitude, so it might be quite difficult to screenshot a map and use it in the same way. Also zooming won’t re-render at higher resolutions, so it gets pixellated.
