Very lazy upload since WP 5.3

I’ve just checked few of my tests sites and didn’t had any difference between upload times before and after updating to 5.3

Can you try performing a conflict test by disabling all of your plugins except for Smush and switch to default WP theme to see if the load times are still affected?
If not, activate them back one by one to see which one is causing the issue and so we can debug it further from there.

Uploads might be a bit slower with WordPress 5.3. We will be releasing an update to address this issue really soon. As an alternative, if you do many uploads you can temporarily disable auto Smush and do bulk Smush instead. But, as Predrag said, there should not be a noticeable difference in most cases.

‘a bit slower‘? Oh no, It’s really very slow… but thanks for the suggestion to bulk Snush!

Came here to say the same thing. I have Smush Pro and after the 5.3 update smushing takes AGES! This really needs to be solved asap. It literally takes me over a minute to upload ONE image which is unacceptable.

Our developers are working on loading speed improvement. Please keep an eye on the future plugin’s updates.

I’ve tested so far the plugin on my end, the upload took several seconds. Please let us know what is the image size that you’re uploading and it takes so much time?

Indeed more than a minute. My size is max 1200px
