Kudos to these guys for putting out such a robust forum plugin for free.

Personally, I feel like giving it 1 star just because of how hard it is to work with and how poor the documentation is and how they have their support forums/add-ons/documentation spread out across 2 domains so it’s really hard to find help when you need it, plus their forum search function doesn’t work very well to find answers when you run into trouble, which you will.

But that wouldn’t be fair because it’s not a 1-star plugin – it’s actually a decent plugin that for me is too complicated to use.

If I were going to give you any advice, I would say this:

    1. If you already have a forum and it’s working reasonably well, don’t change just because you’re in the mood for something new. You may find some nice new features but you’ll also come across new problems. It’s often better to stick with something that’s working okay. I’ve spent a few days moving from SimplePress thinking it would be nice to have something more modern but I actually had fewer problems with SimplePress.

    2. If you don’t already have a forum and you’re looking to start one, my guess is that wpForo is just as good as any other. Forums are complicated so you’re bound to run into challenges with any of them.

Thank you for the detailed review @philraymond,

As you may know we’re adding new functions and features with every update so it’s hard to keep updated documentation so fast. However, we’re working on it and it’ll be completed very soon.

You may find some nice new features but you’ll also come across new problems. It’s often better to stick with something that’s working okay.

Please leave some examples of such issues. All wpForo features are very solid and works well if you enable it. If there is an issue please leave some information.

I think all your problems reasons were the issues during forum migration. It seems the migration was not successful.

Lots of wpForo users say it’s very easy to use because you don’t even create a page after installation. Just click on the activate button and find your forum on /community/ page

    1. wpForo Menu is a simple WordPress menu and can be managed in WordPress menu settings
    2. wpForo sidebar and widgets are a simple WordPress sidebar and widgets and can be managed in WordPress settings as well.
    3. Forums are very easy to create and order them in Forums admin page
    4. There are even predefined layouts that you can choose for each forum category.

I’m sorry, but I can’t see what was so hard for you.I’d be very thankful if you could leave a list of those feature here.

    Thank you!
