• Okay, so for a long time now I’ve been longing to broadcast my thoughts, opinions, and what not, and now I’m finally executing that idea. My first blog, located within my long neglected domain, will be my first completed endeavor on the web. Not my first attempt, just the first to complete. All past ideas called for some knowledge of web programming extending beyond HTML, which I’m not willing to obtain. So here it is:
    https://www.therandomist.net/journal
It’s not yet completed (though very close), so ignore the clashing color of the text widgets on the sidebar. I’ve been perfecting the theme for the past two weeks, and now it’s pretty much done. I will change the banner pattern regularly. I think it offers a classic look, which is what I wanted to acheive from the getgo. The theme was originally based off of Harbor, (https://www.alexking.org/software/wordpress/styles/sample.php?wpstyle=harbor), but I think it bears such little resemblance now to negate the need for extensive credit citing. Or maybe you guys think different, I have no idea.
So enjoy. Oh, and don’t mind the ‘creative’ test posts. The page goes into convulsions if the posts don’t exceed the length of the sidebar widgets. Icky icky.

I don’t know, I’m viewing it with my 1600×1200 resolution and it seems alright. ?_?

I’m going to strike this one back up again, because I’d like to hear somebody’s comments on how it looks (graphics related) — comments on the writing would be good, too, but I don’t think many people have that kind of time. ??
Codergurl, I’ve looked into your suggestion, but it is the same size as ordinary print text on most other sites on the web. What you’re seeing is different than what I’m seeing, however. Most people have found the text size to be normal and very readable. How high is your resolution? Have you set the text size for your browser to lower than default? Anyway, I’m not going to change the text size, right now it seems just right. If I receive further complaints, I’ll do something about it. But still, I appreciate your comment.

I had the right sidebar widgets absolutely screwed in InternetExplorer. Odd, since they rendered perfect in Firefox. I’ll remember next time to test every change in both browsers. Yuck.

Well you have your menu with a fixed width plus a margin of 8px;. That is quite enough to screw it in IE. Take it out and it will sit neatly. Margin #menu ul instead.

I like the graphics, but I wish that the article column was a little wider, and perhaps the graphics on the left a little narrower. Also, if you wanted to just finish up the graphics, why not make the footer match the theme of the rest of the page?
    It looks nice, though.

Nicely done, though I would look to either increase the text size/weight in your side bars or knowck back the intensity of the color; it’s overpowering the sidebar material.

Okay, I’ve made a number of improvements. The body of the site is now wider, and I think the sidebar backgrounds are darker (so the sidebar material should be more pronounced). Both sidebars are thinner than they were, I suppose it may look a little more streamlined than before.
As always, thanks for the suggestions. ??

In Firefox your layout has disintegrated.

    Hi!

I’m a newbie to WordPress, so please help! I’ve just installed WP v2.0 on a Win2K3 Server. The installation went pretty smooth. My problem is that when I tried to access my website from another PC across the network, the layout or template doesn’t display. All I see displayed are the texts and everything is left align. The website displayed fine when access from the server. I’ve tried it on IE, FireFox, Netscape. All with the same display issue. Please help!

    Here’s my config:

    Win2K3 Server
WAMP 5 (as my web server from https://www.wampserver.com)
    PHP 5.1.2
    MySQL 5.0.18-nt
    Apache 2.0.55

svang, as you can see this thread has been dead for quite awhile and is also totally unrelated to your issues.

Search the forums and codex first and if you need help, make sure you post it under the relevant tags and title, so that someone will be able to help you out!

    Cheers,
    Michael.

Niziol, Thanks for pointing that out.
