This is undoubtedly the most disappointing plugin of 2012. Here are my chief gripes.

    1. The Facebook app part of the plugin API only becomes active after a few days after the app is created. Until then, you keep shooting in the dark as to why its not working.

    2. The subscribe button shows up and even shows subscriber count when used as a widget. But clicking on it cannot get you subscribed. And it will only show in IE!

    3. The Like button widget simply will not show, in any browser!

My guess is that this is a very temperamental plugin and it’s functionality is largely dependent on the theme being used.

    Can anybody help me?

  • I agree, I’ve had numerous problems with this plugin. Facebook, sort it out!

It never should have been released. It’s still in Alpha and it was irresponsible to release. Typical publicly traded company–using the population as a test bed.

It’s funny that all of the 3rd party Facebook plugins, most developed by single individuals, work as advertised, with small problems that are constant and fixable, not random and incomprehensible. But the software engineers at Facebook, a billion dollar company, can’t figure it out.

Try this, as it works perfectly:

    Hi techtangerine,
We just released version 1.1 of the plugin including the ability to step-up your engagement as you get to know the plugin and its features.

    1. Generic Like button
    2. Add application credentials, enabling Facebook-powered stats (insights) and opening up new plugin features.
    3. Associate your WordPress user account with a Facebook account to publish to your Facebook timeline when your post becomes public.
    4. You’ll also find contextual help menus placing information closer to areas of possible confusion.

If you have specific issues please open up a thread and provide details.

Looks like the updated version is working…..it seems it was a compatibility issue with certain versions of PHP.
