• For almost a decade and a half I used to download/upload edited/updated files through my go-to FTP client, simply because that’s how it was done back when I started working with WordPress. I don’t have to explain why that’s not very enjoyable… I tried a couple of file managers / editors before I came across WPIDE and they were all kind of “ok” but not outstanding.

    WPIDE is:

    • very convenient to use, UI is pretty much down to the point (other editors often looked like windows 98 called and wanted their file explorer back) – also loads all elements quite fast
    • very good code editor for 99% of the stuff I need to edit through the admin backend (most of the other plugins used editors without syntax coloring etc.)
    • multiple (file)tabs are super handy so you don’t have to “open” “close” “reopen” when switching between files; you just navigate the opened files like you would navigate a web browser
    • stable; did not crash once so far
    • after saving, it updates files lightning fast

    I am currently using the free version as I don’t need the pro features atm, but I will def be purchasing pro/lifetime as some of the pro features are functionalities I usually add through multiple plugins (picture editing etc.) and here it’s all in one plugin so no additional “weight” added to the website. Pricing is also absolutely affordable, considering what you’re getting!

    A+++ for this plugin
