• Hello,

Sandbox account is already automatically before, however, it required creating a new business sandbox account now.

After updating with Version2.9.4, I check the tutorial upon Testing in Sandbox at https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-paypal-payments/#manual-credential-input, but I am still quite confused upon the sandbox.

    Here are questions please:

1# When trying “Test payments with PayPal sandbox” button, it required to create business sandbox account:
    https://prnt.sc/Y-5av_eH7M5L

    To avoid issues, questions please:

How should we create the sandbox account?

Should we use the same email address of PayPal live account ID? or we have to register the sandbox ID with different email address with the PayPal live account ID?

2# What is the Sandbox Merchant Id for

In PayPal developer dashboard, there is Default Application in Sandbox mode. If Toggle to manual credential input, it requires:

    Sandbox Email address
    Sandbox Merchant Id
    Sandbox Client Id
    Sandbox Secret Key

What is the Sandbox Merchant ID here please? is it Account ID acutally?

    Please check the screenshot: https://prnt.sc/aJTMO5bCD_D1

    Could you please clarify?

    Thanks

    Hello @alexli126

Here are some clarifications on testing with PayPal sandbox.

    1. Creating a Sandbox Account:
      • You don’t need to use the same email address as your live PayPal account. Sandbox accounts are separate from live accounts, so it’s often best to use a different email to avoid confusion.
      • To create a new?sandbox business account, please log into the?PayPal?Developer?Dashboard?and go to?Sandbox > Accounts. From there, you can create a new business account dedicated to testing.
    2. Sandbox Merchant ID:
      • The Sandbox Merchant ID is a unique identifier specific to your sandbox business account, not the email address or Account ID.
      • To find this Sandbox Merchant ID, go to the?PayPal Developer Dashboard?and select your sandbox business account under?Sandbox > Accounts. The Merchant ID will be displayed in the account details.

In WooCommerce PayPal Payments, you can either enter these details manually or use the?automatic onboarding process. The automatic onboarding option simplifies the setup by connecting your account directly through WooCommerce, so you won’t need to enter credentials manually.

If you prefer manual setup, you’ll need the following details:

    • Sandbox Email Address: The email associated with the sandbox business account.
    • Sandbox Merchant ID: Found in the developer dashboard as described above.
    • Sandbox Client ID?and?Secret Key: These are generated in the?Default Application?under? My Apps & Credentials?on the developer dashboard. Make sure you’re viewing this in Sandbox mode.

For additional guidance on testing payments, please refer to the WooCommerce documentation: WooCommerce PayPalPayments Testing in Sandbox. This guide outlines the setup process and how to test sandbox payments effectively.

Please let us know if there’s anything further we can assist you with!

    Regards,
    Femi.
