Very confused by the video and French instructions formatting’

Very confused by the video and French instructions, and my formatting isn’t the way I want.
I’m using the classic editor plug-in because I find the block editor extremely confusing.
First off I’d like the photo to be the entire background and can’t figure out how to do that. It’s been some years since I’ve done much with WordPress and it was the classic editor when I used it before and I did very simple sites.
Next, I’d like to have the login box on one side, and the text not compressed/ justified to the far right but that’s the only way I could find to make things fit.
List of users and the search, I would like to have a separate columns, but I can’t figure out how to add columns in the classic editor.
There’s some French text that I would like to change, which I believe is supposed to say new members, but my French is very poor.
if I can get this working, then I think I can slowly start to work on other components of the functionality but for now this is road blocks and I destroyed and rebuilt the site a dozen times now, and I’m still not any closer to home.
I’m trying to keep this down to maybe a contact/donation page the main page and a page where a user can set their profiles as well as possibly a page that displays users that can be browsed.
