VERY confused about using jquery/wordpress

  • Just wanted to know if someone could point me to some tutorials or pages about adding jquery functionality to wordpress. I am confused about how to access things without using the PHP shortcodes such as images that are connected to a post. Do I use the DOM instead or what?

    Newbie here, any help greatly appreciated.
