The plugin always had a free and a premium edition. Under the previous ownership, some features, which were advertised as being premium, were inadvertently also being offered in the free edition. Of course, this is unfair to those users who choose to opt for the paid edition and as such, we wanted to set things straight.
On the other hand, a free plugin that is of good quality is difficult to maintain without having a premium edition. While we all like free things, the people who work on these plugins need to make a living.
All of our plugins are supported by a complement of full-time employees who not only ensure that plugins remain updated and secure, but also offer support when something goes wrong.
We are also offering a free 3-month license to serve as a transition period for affected users and as such, saying from one day to the next is unfair. You can request your license key by sending us an email at [email protected].
