Vertical videos without letterboxing – full-screen on Mobile

    I need to embed vertical videos which will display in full-screen format on mobile. Is that supported with this plugin? What hosts will work best for this use case? I’m considering YouTube, Vimeo, or Dailymotion.

    I found this vertical video: https://vimeo.com/392352727 I posted that to our website https://foliovision.com/player/demos/vimeo-integration -> Vertical Video and it does fill the whole screen of mobile when in portrait orientation.

    However if you use the “Force landscape orientation in fullscreen” setting it becomes a problem as the Android mobile will always use landscape when in fullscreen making the video much smaller. We will improve that feature to use portrait orientation when it’s a better fit.

    As I said it’s a Vimeo video – note that you have to buy FV Playe Pro to get a full-featured Vimeo or YouTube embedding. But it would work just as well with MP4 or HLS.

    iOS on iPhone doesn’t offer real fullscreen mode for HTML5, you can only use Settings -> FV Player -> Mobile Settings -> Use native fullscreen on mobile which unfortunately stops popups, ads or subtitles from working.

    the issue with the Android fullscreen lock has been fixed. It will lock to portrait mode when the video has such orientation.
