• I would like to replicate the left side header of my current site in gutenberg, if possible … but it seems like gutenberg is tuned to support one specific design (the most common design) and nothing else. I’ve looked into some themes, but it’s pretty much “rebuild the header on every page/post.”

Can someone explain why this is not possible in gutenberg? Are all wordpress sites supposed to look identical (other than images and image sizes)? Is this a conscious branding decision on the part of wordpress?

If this is possible in gutenberg–without recreating it on every page and post–can someone explain how to do it? Can the header be moved to the left side of the page?

    Hi there,

This is a really good point!

It honestly came to my mind before, as I love Twenty Fifteen (similar concept).

I coincidently started creating a theme like that a few years ago, and I believe the only way would be to use CSS to change how it works, so you would create a “regular” header, then change it to be on the left with a lot of CSS.

I’ll share this topic with some folks, in case they have ideas around that.
