Vertical alignment of two column row, with text widgets in each

For your consideration: I recommend an easy way to vertically align in a row. For instance, i want to easily (no CSS) make my two column row vertical aligned either as middle or bottom: see the two two rounded-corner boxes at https://www.derekbeck.com/america1775/ (I think I’d like them vertical centered in the middle). I messed around w/ the CSS, but haven’t had easy results at achieving the middle alignment, which is why it remains at the default position, aligned to the top.
