Vertical Align for text?

I have a 2-column table, with images in the left column and text in the right. I can’t seem to get the text to begin up top. I tried adding this html:
<td style=”vertical-align:top”>
To the start of the various table values, but it doesn’t seem to work (nor does just trying <style =”vertical-align:top”>. Can you help?
