    ..you know, of course, that a new version is not required to show that the plugin is compatible with the WP 4.8.2 … all you have to do us update the version number in the readme.txt and the plugin header. No new version number is required.

    …which will eliminate the need to update a plugin just because the version number changes. Updates are for changes to code, not version numbering.

    Please make a diff before jumping to conclusions and you’ll see that this wasn’t actually just a compatibility update. The changelog is incomplete, that’s all, for which I apologize (it’s partially automated and something went wrong during commit messages collection).
