• What version of bbPress is running this site?

I downloaded latest .zip nightly, installed it properly, added forum, but it isn’t working, I get no forms to post, when I enter forum, its all empty, no place to post, when I click to view my profile it gives out some error, nightmare.

So, I’m wondering, if this forum works, what version is used?

BTW, I’m planning to include bbPress forum on my simplelog site, which is also minimalistic, and forum would fit perfectly (with some modifications)…

The forum works. I downloaded the lastet nightly this morning(you can see it at soteke.net/bbpress) and it’s working.
Have you done a correct intall??? You have to follow this steps:(from bbpress documentation)
    1. Copy bb-config-sample.php to bb-config.php and fill in the necessary details.
    2. Load bb-admin/upgrade-schema.php and let it create the tables and everything.
    3. Register a user, then change the user_type to 1 in the database.
    4. Add a forum to the bb_forums table using something like phpMyAdmin.
    5. That’s it, obviously step 4 is a pain though.

    Thanks for testing.

Yes, IIRC, I’ve done all these steps right. Well, I must done something wrong then… Thanks again.

Nope, doesn’t working for me, I tried again…

It’s a shame, because only bbPress would fit nicely with simplelog design, all other forums are to complex to nicely integrate, yes, even PunBB.

Does anyone knows of some forum software like bbPress other than PunBB?

what doesn’t work?, can you please give more details?. You can check a new guide to install bbpress forum—>https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/bbpress/install/

ok before installing i wanna know something , it uses new database write ? that is the existing users will have to register again , eh ?

I still have to config the installtion part :p . I`m not that good at these you know ??

    @mufasa,

It is more likely that a way will be made to build a bridge between the two projects, but actually integration is unlikely. They both support different and specific needs, and should stay as standalone projects.

I’ve no doubt that there will one day be a way to easily USE bbPress in a WordPress site, which is the best way to do it, as far as I’m concerned.

I’ve tried minibb, and though it is very lightweight, it seems very cluttered and unintuitive.

I think bbpress is the perfect example of what a light minimalistic bb should be. Especially from the design point of view, since it can easily be molded into any design you’d like.

The final version of bbpress should be very nice – and I agree: It probably will (and should) be developed seperately. I think it would be nice if the install gave you the option of integration, where it would then use your WP database and the WP user login info if you checked a box or something.

For my uses, I like to keep it seperate so that I can keep the “bloggers” and the clients completely seperate.
