    Hi,

before I use this plugin, I want to be sure I understand what it does.

WordPress often saves an image in multiple sizes so we store

    image.jpg
    image-150×150.jpg
    image-400×240.jpg
    image-400×250.jpg
    image-300×160.jpg

even though we only use image 300 c 160.

So would this plugin show all the other sizes as unused, and delete them, and just keep the used one?

What about if we have image.jpg and image.webp? Which is ‘used’ and kept and which is deleted?

    Hi @tashword,

The answer is not as easy as it may seem, so I would like you to read this tutorial I wrote: https://meowapps.com/wp-retina-2x/tutorial/. It’s about another plugin of mine, called Perfect Images. It will shed some light on this. I also talk about Media Cleaner in that tutorial.

Another little clarification: the Free Version of Media Cleaner only does Media Library cleaning. Which means it deletes an entire media entry (and all the thumbnails that go with it) if it’s unused. The Pro Version adds Filesystem cleaning, which analyze the thumbnails independently; if they are not used by any media entry anymore, they will be removed.

WebP are considered as used if they have an image parent (basically, an image with the same name).
