    As detailed on Github (https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/38755) there is an error impacting version 7.8.0 of WooCommerce whereby an “Adding new attribute failed” error appears whenever a product is opened or edited.

    Changing themes and turning off plugins makes no difference, and as per the Github thread this is impacting many users that have upgraded to 7.8.0.

  • Same, began after updating with no other changes.

    Is Woo aware of this error message after the last update? It happens when updating an existing product that already has variations.

    I’ve had no response on this forum, but I did receive an email stating “Your support request has been submitted to our team of Happiness Engineers. Rest assured that your email arrived safely and our support team will be in touch as soon as we can.” I’ve submitted the issue directly to WooCommerce.com too, but I’ve never received feedback from them unless its been about a plugin bought on that platform.

    Hello there, I am experiencing the same issue. This message is contantly poping up when browsing or editing a product. Pretty annoying.

    Oh thank Grud, I thought it was only me! Managing 3 Woo sites and they all started kicking this error out in the past week. At first I thought it was one of the “product bundle” plugins I was testing, but when it started appearing on the other two, and one was a fresh install, I knew something was up. Has anyone tried downgrading to an earlier Woo version and confirmed that the error is gone?

    I downgraded to version 7.2 and everything is ok now

    Same issue, cant figure it out why. I am not even adding a new product but randomnly get this on the products page

    Having the same issue. Just edited a product and now this pops up very so often.

    Also this has ben reported. If you’re using Elementor be aware, looks like Woo pushed the button too soon on this update.

    same. thought it might have been a conflict with ACF, but deactivating it and other plugins doesn’t fix it. annoying, but no obvious issues?

    I have 9 stores running. I am having the same issue on all of them after woocommerce 7.8.0 and I went in and listed a new product. then it happened. any fix yet?

    Get the same message and the site can also crash after that.

    I’ve received a response from WooCommerce (no idea why they didn’t reply to this thread):

    “Thanks for reaching out to WooCommerce.com support. The issue you mention has been fixed (in this pull request) and is awaiting a release date.

    It should be noted that there was some difficulty in reproducing the issue. The developer commented:?

    How to reproduce the issue in #38755

    A few scenarios where this can be seen:

    • Load “All Products” and quickly click a product to edit it, or sort the list by clicking one of the column headers
    • Load a product to edit it and quickly navigate to a different page

    These can be difficult to reproduce if the timing isn’t right. I found that setting my network throttling to “Wi-Fi” in the Network tab of the browser developer tools made it more likely that this occurred.

    Also, as mentioned, I have only seen this happen in Firefox.

    It appears that this might also be occurring when code automatically adds an attribute, but fails to complete.

    Unfortunately, at this time, I’m unable to provide a timeframe for a release of this fix. Please let us know if you have any further questions. We will be happy to help.”

    I have replied advising that the issue is happening in Chrome and Edge as well as Firefox, and that switching from WiFi to LAN makes no difference – it happens instantly on every site the second I attempt to edit any product.

    Let’s hope that 7.8.1 is released with a fix soon.
