• Hi!

I am a DreamPress user who was instructed by DreamHost support to reach out to you here as an issue has come up specific to your plugin. After updating to the latest version of Proxy Cache Purge on Monday April 8, all of my scheduled posts are now failing to appear. The date/time they are scheduled to appear passes, and instead a red message of “Missed schedule” displays on the right side of the screen where it normally displays the time that the post was published per the schedule.

Here are some details and things I’ve tried testing:

    1. Pausing the cache, and the scheduled posts still did not appear.

    2. Disabling the Proxy Cache Purge plugin entirely, and the scheduled posts DID appear without issue.

    3. I tested the issue on multiple DreamPress sites running vastly different configurations, and they all had the same issue of scheduled posts being missed and not appearing when using Proxy Cache Purge 4.8.

    4. The only changes performed this week on any of the sites where we tested and experienced the issue was the update of the Proxy Cache Purge plugin to 4.8.

    5. Some sites also have user reminders that are automatically sent out by another plugin, and all of those reminders appear to have ceased after the 4.8 update as well, so I assume it’s related to whatever is blocking the scheduled posts.

I will also note that we’ve been using DreamPress and your plugin for years, and this has never happened before. Everything has always worked great otherwise! ??

Thank you for your time and keep up the fantastic work!!

I use this plugin on a site with daily scheduled posts and have never had a missed schedule, so this is rather surprising to hear. Plus the plugin has no integration at all with scheduled posts. It listens for the post publish action and then does whatever needs doing, but that’s a passive action.

Are you using the WordPress cron or an alternative cron on these sites?

    Hi Mika!

I don’t think so. I’m just using whatever comes built into DreamPress as far as I know. One site in particular is about as basic in terms of DreamPress standard features as possible. (The one I brought to DreamHost support to show them what was happening.) It literally has no additions other than the pre-installed/suggested plugins that appear on a fresh DreamPress install plus the Avada theme.

I don’t use the plugin anywhere other than DreamPress, but every site I have with DreamPress is having the same issue. All sites I have outside of DreamPress and without Proxy Cache Purge are publishing scheduled content as usual.

Cron is a part of WordPress, not DreamPress. I can’t reproduce this on any site on DreamPress (had a scheduled post go up today as expected).

    Do they ALL have Avada?

    Hi Mika!

Only some of them have Avada. However, I also tested on 2 websites I have with DreamPress that were still running Proxy Cache Purge 4.7.3, including one that runs Avada, and both had their scheduled posts go through instantly and without issue like they had always done previously. I then updated Proxy Cache Purge on one of those 2 sites to 4.8, and when I scheduled a post after the update it no longer went through and instead showed the same red “Missed schedule” message and required me to manually publish it to have it go through. Nothing else changed other than the update to Proxy Cache Purge 4.8.

I’ve also tried multiple times disabling the plugin, and scheduled posts went through when it was disabled.

Should I contact DreamPress support again about it? I can’t imagine why it would only be happening to my sites, but to all of my sites despite them all being drastically different from each other with the only similarities being DreamPress and Proxy Cache Purge.

Also, I just saw the topic from mvcrismari for “Caching Issue with WooCommerce / Tribe Events Ticket Emails”

That is exactly what is happening for our plugin that normally triggers reminders (#5 from my initial message) where those emails are no longer being automatically sent out after updating to Proxy Cache Purge 4.8.

Do you ALSO have Memcached installed, or an object-cache.php file in your wp-content folder?
