• Hi, after upgrading to version 3.1.3 the sidebars and the main area no longer dynamically collapses to adjust to the screen size. I also installed the plugin but it did not help. All works well on version 2.2.3. Had to restore to backup to get functionality back.

    Any hints appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Beat

Sorry about poasting in the review section – can you remove my entry?

Hi Beat. Check to make sure Customize > Global settings > Mobile devices > Enable the Mobile Friendly layout is enabled.

Hi bdbrown. thanks for your reply. I have the Mobile Friendly layout enabled – but it does not work. It already does not work in the preview on that customise screen. – Need to restore my backup.

My original theme option styling settings are: Boxed Layout off, Website Max-width 1300px, Sidebar Width 280px primary, 200px secondary (30px padding)

My original theme general options are: custom stylesheet off, responsive layout on, mobile sidebar content show sidebars

Which plugin do you think is causing the problems.

Here is a link to the site running Hueman 2.2.3 https://www.ireallylikeguitars.com/
I do not want to leave it on 3.1.3 for too long as I fear a penalty in my rankings if the site is not responsive.

    Thanks for your help

Which plugin do you think is causing the problems.

Hard to say. I’ve used these in your list without any problems:
    ContactForm7
    EWW Impage Optimizer
    Limit Login Attempts
    Redirection
    Simple Image Sizes

That’s not to say that any one of those in combination with one or more of the others you’re using couldn’t cause a problem, but I’d be a bit surprised if that were the case. I’d be inclined to start by disabling these:
    CloudFlare
    CometCache

I don’t think they’re causing the issue but, if they aren’t active, then you know you’re working with only one instance of the site. If that doesn’t do it then the only real way to find out is to disable all your plugins and see if the problem is resolved, the idea being to get to a known good state where the theme operates correctly. Then start enabling the plugins one at a time until you find the one (probably only one but it could be more, or some combination) that causes the issue.

If your host gives you cPanel access, or you’re comfortable using FTP, you might consider setting up a subdomain, copy your existing v2.2.3 site (using a plugin like Duplicator) then restore it to the subdomain, upgrade that copy to the new version and do your testing there.

Hi bdbrown, thanks for the reply. I did not have time to follow up on your suggestions as my day job is going like crazy at the moment. What would be the concern if I simply stayed on version 2.2.3. of the Hueman theme?

Probably not much of a concern at the moment. Eventually there will be something in a WP core upgrade that will break the old theme, but I couldn’t begin to guess when that might be. You could also upgrade to the last version in the 2.2.x releases here:
    https://github.com/presscustomizr/hueman/releases
That version should upgrade without any problems but it would be good to have a backup around just in case. It’s several months newer than your current version.
