First of all, it’s probably good to tell you the old buttons are still there. The new version uses a different database table to prevent data loss.

Were there any errors during the update?

Can you check if there is a table called ‘wp_maxbuttonsv3’ in your database?

wp_maxbuttons_buttons is the table I have in the database.
There were no errors during uodate.

I only use 2 buttons so it will most probably be quicker for me just to recreate them from scratch. I cannot save any new ones though.

You can’t if there is no table called ‘wp_maxbuttonsv3’. You can try to deactive and active the plugin again, maybe something went wrong there. And / or check if the WordPress user can actually create tables in the database ( this would cause problems within other plugins as well ).

    OK,
deactivated and then activated maxbuttons plugin. This created the table “wp_maxbuttonsv3” in the database (it wasn’t there before).

The new buttons I tried to create but was unable to save have appeared in the list of buttons. So they were saved!

The original buttons created before the update do not appear.

I’ll just create 2 new buttons and carry on.

Sorry for the hassle. The plugin is designed to convert the buttons automatically but probably due to this database hickup it didn’t do that.

Missing the buttons after update too for me also.
Ok seems by deactivating the plug in and than activate again it solve the issue.

Bad think an update cause this issue if i don’t check the button my website has the button who not works ??

It seems with this update the button are showed more correctly, looks better with my theme alignment

Did you buttons show up again? Aka were they converted from the old plugin correctly?

    For me works fine now.

    1. Updated plug in
    2. Deactivated plug in
    3. Reactivated plug in

All works fine and some bad visual are now perfect, this update fixed some problem i had seen before. Thanks.

My button is now showed again and in better way than before.

Updated 2nd site, old buttons didn’t show.
Deactivated then reactivated maxbuttons and the original buttons show up and are in “wp_maxbuttonsv3”.
    So that’s fine.

I believe the problem on the first site was me trying to create 2 new buttons without first deact/reactivating the plugin. This seemed to “lose” the original buttons.

So reactivating the plugin after upgrade appears to solve this problem.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I’m going to add some manual button to do the conversion when it somehow fails. For some reason the button is not automatically reactived when it’s updated. It’s known that WP has issues with this, but I can’t replicate it.

Praise the lord there is this thread!!!

Otherwise i mightve done something silly to try and get my buttons back.

    Cheers for this plugin!

This one had me a bit worried but deactivating and reactivating fixed the issue. Would the Pro version have been affected by this too?

    Thanks All!

Glad the few of you having issues are pleased with the support.

It really helps us to get reviews especially with the new version so please consider giving us one even if it’s just a short sentence like ‘Cheers for this plugin!’ from @ramzil and a star rating.

    We really appreciate it.

    Thanks!

Buttons gone after update. Deactivate -> Reactivate trick fixed the problem. Thanks for the thread and sollution!

@thatruth2006 Yes it works in the same way. It’s a one time thing only moving to this version.

For everybody – are you updating via the WordPress updater? I would be helpful to know how people are updating, since in most cases everything seems to be going just fine.

    Ways you can update:
    – Via update link in the plugin ( just this one )
    – By selecting multiple plugins and updating them ( more then one at the same time )
    – By downloading zip and using FTP to upload it to the server.

Would be interesting to find out how you are doing it.
