  • Hi Yani,
I have updated through the wp-plugins “update now” link and it updated to Version 3.1.1 not Version 3.0.1 as you have mentioned above.

    When I export to file.
I am prompted with 122mb file which is saved as a .WPRESS file not a Zip.

After downloading the file it is actually 94.6mb and still a .wpress file

    Iam using wp 4.1.1
    Google Chrome

Hope this helps in some way????

    JustT2552,

Thank you so much for the feedback.
The file is now being exported as WPRESS which is an open source wordpress archive format ServMask Inc. created.

It is acceptable that there is slight difference between what you have downloaded and the file size mainly because your server is running one OS eg Linux while you are downloading on a different OS eg OS X.

Linux interprets 1 MB as 1024 KB while OS X 1 MB as 1000 KB

Just to be on the safe side, I would download the file one more time. If the size is the same then it must be what I posted above, if not – it could be the internet connection and you might try using a download manager.

The file size is exactly double what the exports used to be used to be. That’s HUGE. Why the big difference?

    msdobe,

The new WPRESS format is about 10 times faster than the previous ZIP format.
The cost is the file size.

Over 50% of today’s hosting providers limit the execution of a php script to 30 seconds. Compressing a large website takes much longer and on some servers it never completes because of the 30 seconds timeout.

The reason I was asking is because the size was 33 MB and now the file is 66 MB. It also took much longer than normal to import (over 20 minutes and still importing) and I finally stopped it.

Must say I absolutely love the plugin, but I really like the zip file much better as compared to the wp file.

    msdobe,

Is it importing or uploading that is taking too long?
You can ftp the file and put it in wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/backups folder and then restore it from backups page of the plugin.

I am hoping that when we add the compression to wpress as an option, we will meet the same file size if not better to the one you were getting with zip.

    Hi Yani,

Great Plugin. One issue is that in the post_meta for images (https://screencast.com/t/BoOt1Ve7AU), when a new installation has a DB table prefix with ie. wp2584618815, your tool is replacing the wp with wp2584618815. I know this is needed in some areas, but it is breaking the featured images and media library, because get_attached_file is hardcoded with “_wp_attached_file” (https://screencast.com/t/N6hPNIRraVn).

    Best,
    JR

    Yanni,
It was importing that was taking forever. With the zip file it didn’t take that long to import but, as I said previously I stopped the import at 20 minutes.

    Jenny

I keep getting the following error when trying to export to file:

“Unable to export : Please refresh page and try again”

This has happened on both 3.0.1 and 3.1.1. I never had any issues in any prior updates…

    Any thoughts?

    jroakes,

Thank you so much for this. We will fix it for the next version

    Jenny,

    Could you check wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/storage/error.log file
    Does it say anything useful?

    Rionoskae,

Sounds like there is an error when you start the process. I will start by looking into wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/storage/error.log file
    Does it say anything useful?

    Yani,

I don’t have an error.log file in that directory…Perhaps because it never seems to actually start running.

I’m having an odd experience, the new version exports the .wpress file just fine, but the import function just don’t work at all. The dropdown menu doesn’t work and when I drag and drop the exported .wpress into the import box the browser just redownloads the file itself again. It doesn’t show any error dialog boxes, it just downloads the file again.

I’m using it on a wordpress installation hosted locally on MAMP and I’ve tried it in both Firefox and Chrome, if that helps at all. Love the plugin otherwise, but without import it’s kinda pointless.

    Rionoskae,

I am sorry for the trouble.
Could you open chrome developer tools, then go to export page with developer tools open. Click export to file, then after the alert with ‘Unable to export : Please refresh page and try again’ shows up and you click ok, go to developer tools ‘Network’ Tab, find the latest entry, click on it, select preview and take a screenshot.
That’s where you should be able to find the exact error happening on the server.
What is the hosting provider that you are using, I will get a hosting with them and try to replicate the problem?
