    Hi,
I’m sorry to have to report again an issue.
After latest changing to fix spam issues with forminator due to the change of the plugin since version 3.6.3 version 3.6.6 is correctly blocking all spam also from forminator.

What I see is maybe not working is the real spam WordPress comment that seems are no more stored in spam even if I have the settings to store it.

I’m using the WpDisuz for WordPress comments and in apply action the string wpdAddComment is present.

If I simulate a spam comment using the check box in the settings all works, is the real scenario that seems is not working. Usually I get spam WordPress comment every hours and since some days I run version 3.6.6 I have no spam comments on all websites where the plugin run.

Seems the version 3.6.6 is no more storing spam comments.

    Hi.

I’ve just checked wpdiscuz: Did you switch off the built in recaptcha from google and the captcha that you told me from before?

I am asking this, as I believe, that the spam-check is already done before. If the spam would not be saved, even if it is blocked, this would be so in all cases. Even for Forminator itself.

    Cheers, Matthias

Hi Matthias, thank you for your reply and sorry if I’m stressing again reporting again issues.

In wpdiscuz I use just only your plugin, I removed any other captcha plugin this since long time as you told me your plugin is better for performance.

As I told there is no issue with the old 3.6.3 where all worked fine. The issue of don’t see real spam messages stored is just with he latest version.

For Forminator I can see spam message saved, for WordPress comment not. If I restore your plugin version 3.6.3 all works fine means spam messages are stored from forminator and also from wpdiscuz.

I think you can simulate a spam message comment and see if this is saved. I’m unable to test this. I tested with the spam test checkbox that is in your plugin settings and all works fine, is the real scenario of spam that seems is not working. Just a reminder that is important do a real test without be authenticated in the testing WordPress website. You can also do a test on my website at the link you have ?? that I shared previously privately.

I hope you will be able to catch the possible cause.

    Hi.

I am pretty sure, that if the spam is blocked by this plugin and the respective flags are active, the messages shell be saved.

The page you mentioned, is indicating that some spam check is activated. This indication is not from this plugin.

The fact that with 3.6.3 is saving messages may be possible as this version is checking earlier, than the current one and thus is checking before the other spam check, whereas the current spam check is most probably executed after the other spam check.

    Cheers, Matthias

Thank you for the explanation and for the test.
I mark this as resolved as I understand maybe the new version check later if the spam has arrived.

I just notice with the new version I don’t see anymore a lot of spam comment message that was present before. If all works is maybe an improvement as now I get less spam messages stored.

    Thanks.

@matthiasnordwig just to clarify: in my WordPress comment I insert a custom HTML template that show antispam icon and antispam protection active. This is just a visual alert I added to the wpdiscuz so.. I don’t think there is some spam check other then your plugin if Forminator has not native spam checks.. and from what I know Forminator has no active spam checks for the free version.

I added that visual icon to indicate the form is protected by an antispam system that is your plugin.

I see you left a comment, but I can see just the single sucesfully comment that has been added in the WordPress moderation queue.

I was not able to find any test spam messages, just the single sucesfully comment test you leaved. Are you sure that WordPress spam messages blocked by your plugin are saved if flags for save are active? Did you test this in the latest version?

From what I can see before in the version 3.6.3 I get a lot of spam WordPress messages blocked, now just from forminator.

I dont have any other spam checks active then your plugin and the widget you may seen in the comment form is an HTML widget created by me and is something just visual.

Matthias, can I ask… when you left the one comment I see and was not spam, you left just this comment or also other comments that has been identified as spam?

Are you able to leave a spam comment and see if you get the error of blocked comment from your plugin? (Also I mean on your website testing side)

I’ve changed nothing on my website only your plugin version. Be sure there is not another issue on the code because as from what I see, spam wordpress comments are no more saved. I’m sure about that, some days has been past and I get more then 30 comments of spam for day and I see no one is stored with the latest plugin ?? just forminator spam.

Take your time, is not urgent ??

Hi. I’ve just left this clean comment, as it is pretty complicated to spam WPDiscuz :-).

I was wondering that your form shows a comment field even if I switch of JavaScript. In my test environment, without JavaScript it doesn’t show any comment fields. How are your settings?

I am pretty sure, that whenever the plugin is blocking the spam and the flag is set respectively, the spam messages are saved. This I didn’t touch that routine since 3.6.3.

    Hi Matthias.

I’ve just left this clean comment, as it is pretty complicated to spam WPDiscuz :-).

    What do you means? ??
Since I used your plugin from the start I get a lot of spam messages captured for WordPress comment and I was always using WPDiscuz.

I was wondering that your form shows a comment field even if I switch of JavaScript. In my test environment, without JavaScript it doesn’t show any comment fields. How are your settings?

How can I share all my WPDiscuz settings? I don’t know ?? maybe is some settings in WPDiscuz.

I am pretty sure, that whenever the plugin is blocking the spam and the flag is set respectively, the spam messages are saved. This I didn’t touch that routine since 3.6.3.

MmmM… you are sure of that, I understand but this is not what I see since latest updates. I see what you are saying if I do a test spam using your plugin check box for test a spam comment. In this case all works fine, the spam message comment are saved.

In the real scenario if before at the version 3.6.3 I get every day a lot of spam comment message captured, now I get zero. I can see only stored spam from forminator and this is why, after waiting some days for be sure of the issue, I reported to you.

I’m restoring version 3.6.3 for now. I will see if the issue with WordPress comment saving will be fixed ?? for now I resume the last plugin that is working 3.6.3

This to be able to see spam comments saved also, in a few hours I can confirm maybe if comments from WordPress that has identified as spam, is saved in 3.6.3. I’m pretty sure this version will work fully. I will update you ??

15:13 WordPress spam comment saved and detected.
So with 3.6.3 I found also WordPress spam comment saved, with the latest version I get saved spam only from Forminator.

Hi Matthias ?? I hope you are well.
    Currently I’m running

    • version 3.6.3 in two websites
    • version 3.6.7 in other two websites

This since more then 3 days.
    Results:

In the two websites with 3.6.3 I get a lot of spam saved also from WordPress comment (wpdiscuz).

In the two websites with 3.6.7 there is no spamming messages from wordpress comment (wpdiscuz)

All 4 websites has the same configuration in the settings.

I hope with time you will test a real scenario where you can find that currently spam wordpress comment are not stored even if the option is on.

So 3.6.3 seems fully works, the latest version seems is not fully working because they are not storing WordPress spam comments.
