Verse Block not displaying correctly

At some point in the past couple of weeks, the Verse Block plugin has stopped functioning correctly. It no longer displays verse as verse, with linebreaks and appropriate formatting, but as one long horizontal line of text with a horizontal scrollbar beneath it.

I have tried editing the block, transforming it into a paragraph and then back again, manually re-entering linebreaks and nothing seems to work. I would prefer not to have to go back through every post on the site and change them all to blockquote, so any help would be appreciated.
