Versatle and Works Well

  • I use NextGen Gallery on several websites and it works well with lots of options for display types. For awhile I couldn’t see the setup parameters, it used a generic shortcode with parameters stored behind the editor, but now the parameters display in the text view so it’s easier to see what you’re dealing with. Would like to see ability to include Media files in NextGen albums, and to directly show NextGen images in the Media list, but the plugin itself is strong.

    We really appreciate your feedback, @ldekay! Could you elaborate on the following features you’d like to see made available?:

    1. Would like to see ability to include Media files in NextGen albums — Are you looking for the option to add a video?
    2. directly show NextGen images in the Media list — It’s not clear to me where you’d like to show the NextGEN images?

    Maybe I’m mistaken, but:
    1) I don’t see a way to include files already in the Media Library in a NextGen Gallery. I have been reloading files that are already in my Media Library to get them into a NextGen Gallery, but I’d rather be able to add them directly from the existing Media Library. This would save time and storage.
    2) On a similar note, I’d like to have the images that are already in NextGen Galleries show up in the Media Library list without having to go to the separate NextGen link. There is already enough searching through Media files without having to separately go through NextGen files. It would be easier if both were displayed at the same time.

    I realize this may not be possible, but I thought it would be worth making the suggestion.

    Hey Lloyd –

    You can import images from Media Library under Gallery > Add gallery/images > Import Media Library. There isn’t any way to move, it only copies.

    You can add a single image from a NextGEN Gallery in the Media Library. When editing a page/post click on the ‘Add Media’ button. There should be a menu item along the left side, labeled ‘NextGEN’. From there you can select the gallery and then select the image. Does this help?
