    Hi

    I‘m using the Pro version.

A guest should order and checkout without creating an account. But I want a verified email address from him before closing checkout. Is it possible and how to implement it?

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

    Thanks,
    Andreas`

    Hi,

Can you please elaborate more on what you mean by “closing checkout”?

There are 2 situations in which you can block guests

    1. They can reach the checkout page but not pay or complete the order
    2. They can complete the order but will not receive the new order emails and other emails related to the order until they verify their account.

Please let me know which one would be suitable in your situation and I can then guide you on how to set them up.

    Hi

Situation 1 I was trying around but didn’t get it working. There was no verification Link sent out, and the order gets finished and confirmed without checking the email address.

But reading your explanation, situation 2 sounds more user-friendly. May I kindly ask you to guide me with 2?

    Thanks,
    Andreas

    Hi,

    1. Under the General settings tab Disable the Block Checkout option.

    2. Under the advanced settings tab, Block order emails section, Enable the option and select the order emails that you would like to block.

This way guests will be able to complete their purchase but will not receive order emails until they verify their account.

    Hi

Thanks for your message. That is what I already had before. With this setting, a guest can finish his order. He did not get the confirmation documents etc.

But there is no email sent out to the guest to let him know that he must verify his email address. He gets nothing, nothing. This behaviour makes no sense.

Any better solution? I need one soon because we are just before launching.

    Thanks,
    Andreas

    Hi,

Can you please try under the General tab Email sending trigger option set it to “On user register”

    Hi

Your recommended solution does not solve the problem.

There is no difference if the Email sending trigger is set to “On user registration” or “On WooCommerce created customer”.

I don’t have an idea if there is a solution in general to handle guests.

    Please help.

    Hi,

Is the issue generally only when guests are checking out? Or is it even when the a user registers on the my-account page?

    (@andreaskoh)

    Hi

Only with guests. When reistring a new user on the my-account page email address verification works fine.

    Hi,

I just tried checking out on your website as a guest and successfully received the verification email. Here is a screenshot https://paste.pics/COY8G

I can see that you have made it optional for guests to create an account during checkout.

If they choose not to create an account during checkout they will not receive the verification email.

I would suggest in your WooCommerce settings, Account and Privacy Tab, Disable the Allow customers to place orders without an account option.

    Hi

Yes, it is and must be optional for guests to create an account. But for further processing, it is still suitable to verify a guest’s email address without creating an account.

Is there a solution to keep creating an account optional but verifying the guest’s email address?

    Hi,

No that would not be possible. An account has to be created at checkout or on the my-account page for the email verification to be triggered.

    Hi,

Thats more than a pitty that the plugin doesn’t support the guests case. :-((

Then, I have to check other plugins.
