I am a newbie and trying to use Google webmaster tools. They want me to verify my site by pasting a metatag in my site’s home page in the first <head> section of the page, before the first <body> section.

How do I access the HTML Code of my blog through WordPress to do this?

  • You put it in your theme’s header.php.

Sorry I don’t know how to do that.

How do I access my themes header.php file?

I have no idea how to do that.

    I’m new myself! I think it’s here.

Down the side in your admin sectiony bit, go here

    Appearance > Editor > Header

    Thanks That did it.

For any one else who may need to do this the Header.php is a template in a list on the right side of the editor screen.

    Thanks for your help!

Alright does any one know a quick and SIMPLE way to create a site map for google webmaster tools?

I emphasize simple because googles instructions really confused me.
